KoddeKudde will give impressive sheep herding demonstrations. Both children and adults are actively involved in the work of the shepherds and their dogs. New this year are sheep shearing demonstrations, explaining how shearing was done in the past and how it’s done today. There will also be an information booth, staffed by shepherds in traditional costume, sharing knowledge about sheep herding, keeping sheep, and wool processing.
Children can get hands-on as well. Especially for the youngest visitors, there is a new playful activity: sheep shearing for kids! They can also dress up as a shepherd — with cape and staff — and take a fun photo between the real sheep or on a straw bale.
At the weaver’s cottage, an antique sock knitting machine will be in operation, with ongoing demonstrations of this fascinating piece of craftsmanship.

Craft of the Shepherd
The craft of the shepherd is an age-old profession in which the herder is responsible for tending and caring for a flock of sheep. The size of a flock can vary greatly—from a few dozen to several hundred sheep. Sheepdogs play a crucial role in the shepherd’s work. These dogs are trained to help manage and protect the flock. They respond to the herder’s commands and can effectively gather and direct the sheep. Popular breeds for this task include the Border Collie and the Australian Shepherd.
