Between 1900 and 1940, the blacksmith was indispensable, especially in rural areas where technological and industrial progress reached communities more slowly than in cities. This craftsman created and repaired essential tools and objects such as agricultural implements and horseshoes, which were crucial for daily activities and the local economy.
The smithy, with its characteristic forge fire and sturdy tools, formed the heart of both economic and social life in the village. Here, iron was forged on an anvil: the metal was heated until malleable and then hammered into the desired shape.
