During the annual Clog Day, the traditional craft of clog making comes vividly to life, both in the mechanical and the manual workshop.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy demonstrations by skilled clog makers who passionately show how a sturdy pair of wooden shoes is shaped from a rough tree trunk. The historic “malle jan” is also demonstrated – the traditional tool once used to transport logs to the clog workshop. Children are well catered for too, with activities such as stacking clogs and small hands‑on tasks.
Clog Day is part of the museum’s summer season programme, in which a different craft, custom or theme takes centre stage every Sunday. Each week, visitors discover another aspect of Brabant’s rich heritage.
